UKWA Herne Bay
After a long drive to Herne Bay we parked the van on the sea front ready for the weekend.
Day 1 – there was no wind so we chilled out then we decided to join the girls on paddle boards, me Jeremy and Guy joined in as did the French and Dutch boys, we had great fun, we had a long paddle back as the tide was taking us to London !
The wind picked up and we managed to have 2 races which I was very pleased with but very hard work the second race was very gusty and shifty and then picked up a lot I got a 4th and 3rd.
Day 2 – we had 3 races in the morning which were very frustrating as my starts were very bad, I kept getting knocked in., so was really disappointed, In the afternoon we had 2 races which I managed to get better starts and also the wind picked up.
We all had very good competition from the French and the Dutch boys, very close racing which was really good. I managed overall to get 1st 6.8 boy, 2nd was Louis from France, 3rd was Ethan.
I learnt to have a sturdier clue on the start line and about where to go when the tides were strong and when they were slack .
I have been busy this week with revising for exams but did manage a sail at Porthpean last night racing James in his laser.
Looking forward to Datchet this weekend.
