T293 world championship Salou

I left on a Tuesday evening to catch the Plymouth to Roscoff ferry that night. I then had two days travelling in a van until i arrived at sunny Salou. Except, it wasn’t sunny but actually torrential rain which over the course of the first two days turned roads into rivers. Luckily from here on the weather was sunny like i thought it would be.

I had three days of training before the event with Rafferty and Max and we had two days of wind and one day of light winds, coached by Ali Masters. For the practice race it was really windy unlike the event. We ate out most nights but some times my parents cooked a meal in our flat there were plenty of places to eat out so there wasn’t a need to cook.

The first four days of the event we only got 5 races in because of light winds. In these races I didn’t do as well as i had hoped and i was quite disappointed. After that we did three races a day for the next 2 days and then we got a second discard. In these races it was a bit windier but I also didn’t do very well except the last race where i came 6th.

I enjoyed the whole experience of this world championships learning lots and highlighting the need for more fitness, the social was really good and we all had lots of fun.

We left on Saturday morning and drove back, arriving at Monday night. Overall i was disappointed with my performance and i am going to train hard and hopefully do better in the future.
